Dear Friend,

Embarking upon restoration and renewal within the Garden has led to a greater public awareness of its environmental and historical significance and of our fortune in having such an oasis of tranquility within the inner city. Its usage has increased dramatically and has been much encouraged by the staging of alfresco musical and theatrical productions by L.I.P.A and by John Moores University.

Last year’s highlight was Lodestar’s three week season of Shakespeare’s Macbeth. This year the company is presenting A Midsummer Night’s Dream and The Globe Theatre is presenting A Winters’ Tale at both matinee and evening performances between July 31st and September 7th.

Both productions promise to be spectacular and can be strongly recommended.

Tickets are £15 per person [£10 concessions].

They can be purchased from the Liverpool Cathedral Bookshop

[727 1703], News from Nowhere at 96 Bold Street, or booked on line at www.TheLiverpoolShakespeareFestival.co.uk

For your diaries:

There will be guided walking tours of the Garden and the Rodney StreetHope Street area on two weekends in September as part of the Heritage Open Day scheme.

The tours are free and begin [2pm] and end [4pm] at the Oratory.

They will take place on Saturdays 13th  and 20th September and Sundays 14th and 15th September.

If you need any more information or would like to be more actively involved please telephone me on 708 8300 or leave a message on the Friends website -  www.stjamescemetery.co.uk.

Yours Sincerely
