Dr Robert MacDonald, who is the Reader in Architecture at the Liverpool School of Art and Design has produced several ideas for the future regeneration of the cemetery and the immediate surrounding area.  Three of these drawings I have reproduced here, together with the following short note from Robert:

"St James Gardens is a special, unique and largely untouched place in the history of Liverpool. I have very special memories from my childhood of these hidden gardens and the spring; I made these drawings to offer up suggestions for 'new' gates, 'sign posts' and stone surroundings to the existing spring. These drawings are only suggestions and I invite all 'Friends of St James' to provide comments and feedback; design participation is the name of the game"
